DYING TO YOURSELF. 2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. ( Romans 12:1 ) Jesus wants us to take up our cross daily, not sometimes when it is convenient or profitable. Every moment of our life we are required to make the will of God the most important requirement of our life. When we start doing this we will be able to break free from the shackles of this world namely the pleasures of sin, insecurities and worries. But the deceiver will now work overtime to cause you to sin. Judas sold Jesus for thirty silver coins and in the bargain lost his soul. What pleasure is Satan offering you to deny Jesus? What price is he tempting you with for your soul? Satan may tempt you saying he will give all the pleasures of this life provided you stop living for Jesus. He may even promise all the riches of this world in exchange of following Jesus. That is the real time of test for your life and of your faith. , Taking up your cross refers to giving your whole life to God, as Jesus gave His life for us. . It is a total dedication of life. Our whole life is given to His service in anything He says. This will lead us to willingly deny ourselves. Whatever He wants with our life is what must be done with it. What we want no longer matters, but we give ourselves to Him, just as He gave Himself for us despite the fact His human nature did not want to have to do it. If you want to follow Jesus make a commitment here and now - Jesus I want to come after You, I want to follow You, You are my good Shepherd, I am your sheep. Jesus, I say no to the pleasures of this world. I make this commitment to live for you. I am not ashamed of You and Your Word. Lord, no matter what people call me or do to me, no matter how much they put me to shame, I will live for You, I will live for Your Word no matter what it cost me.
