Da-Professors Lounge is sending love and prayers to the family of Soul Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist Bobby Womack who passed today. The legendary singer had gotten started in music by singing Gospel with his brothers, but later switched to singing Secular music after being inspired by his mentor Sam Cooke who also encouraged Bobby to start writing songs. Bobby wrote and scored many hits including the classic If You Think Youre Lonely Now which was his comeback hit in the 1980 and was remade by K-Ci Hailey of Jodeci who scored a huge Pop and R&B hit with his rendition which was featured in the 1994 soundtrack Jasons Lyric. Bobby was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist and was featured on the TV One documentary Unsung. The Legend had also released a new album in 2012 and was honored in London for his career in music. Bobby had many health issues including diabetes, surviving prostate cancer and learned that he had alzhemizers disease which he caught in the early stages and was still able to function normal. Bobby left a great legacy of music behind and he will be missed by many.
