Dad, I just decided not to give him my power! As Dallas and I had a late dinner at Uncle Bills pancake house, he gave me an update on his bully situation. Two weeks ago, we could tell Dallas just wasnt himself, granted the kid had a lot going on as he was going in for another surgery, but there was a sense that it was bigger than that. He normally LOVES to go to CCL every Wednesday. But Tuesday night he was literally in tears at bedtime and said he didnt want to go, that it wasnt fun anymore! After a few questions, we figured out he had a bully situation. Now let me tell you as a father, I was angry and my first instinct was to march right up to the school the next day and FIX IT ...but I know that Im not going to be there for every bully that Dallas will face, and lets face it, bullys arent just for kids! Hell face workplace bullies too! So, we talked about a few ideas, and he assured me that he could handle it, as he only had a few more weeks, and he would be OK! He had a pretty busy schedule yesterday, as he left basketball practice he had to rush to scouts, and it didnt leave anytime for dinner! So...we had a late dinner...and between the conversations of Dumb and Dumber and movie ratings, I found the opportunity to ask him how CCL was going. To my surprise he said GREAT DAD! Now, Dallas tends to hold his emotions in, so I pushed a little harder and asked...are you just saying that to get me to move on....or is it really better! He assured me again, that No Dad, it really is great! So, I assumed the bully had stopped and Dallas may have asked the teacher or something, so I asked him what he did to get him to Stop! Nothing Dad, he is still doing the same stuff! Me: So what makes it so different? Two weeks ago you were in tears! Dallas... Dad, I just decided not to give him my power!
