Dad update: I was leaving the office at 5:00 this afternoon and, as soon as I got into my car, Dad called. First, you need to know that my Dad never calls. My mother has been the lead communicator for years and my correspondence with Dad has been almost solely through emails. When I answered the phone, he said, Well, hello there Big Buddy! How are you? I parked the car and talked to Dad for forty five minutes. I asked how he was feeling and he said that he could not find one thing to complain about as he felt the best that he had felt in months. He also said that his physical therapist who began daily visits this week told him that she planned to have him walking in two weeks. He now feels challenged to beat that mark and I am sure that he will. I told him that I had 7,000 Facebook friends and followers who were praying for him and he said, Wow! That is wonderful! Will you be sure and tell them how much I appreciate their prayers as I am a soon to be poster child exemplifying the power of prayer? Our goal a week ago was to just be able for Dad to have at least two consecutive days without pain. Now, we are talking about a whole week of feeling good, sleeping well, no pain, and a healthy appetite! At this point, nothing would surprise me.
