Daddys status update day 22 night: Atypical aspiration of spinal fluid with MD reporting lesser than desired volume and only able to obtain 3 tubes instead of 4. Blood in spinal fluid and bacteria present is not comparable to fluid obtained from 122813. Vancomycin and Cefepime d/cd and started back on Acyclovir ( from d/c approx. 2 weeks ago. MRI of brain without and with contrast done this afternoon around 4:30. Were both exhausted from 8 bed/gurney transfers for MRI and Lumbar Puncture along with additional needs of the day. Believing for some clear answers tomorrow back on the road for treatment towards recovery. Daddy is comfortable now after pain med and has let me feed him 1/2 piece of pecan pie for supper. That is quite an accomplishment! Our nurse wants me to go to ER for a flu test. I opt for another Alka Seltzer, some Pepto Bismol chewables my mom sent me by David. Plan to take a bedtime dose of Arthritis Strength Tylenol and expect to be all well by morning. I told David I would meet him at the elevator to get my care package from home. After laying eyes on me, I didnt have to give further explanation about why we just needed to make a quick exchange of goods! Besides the regular infection control risks, H1N1 (swine flu), GI virus, pneumonia, RSV, and a host of other infectious respiratory illness are running rampant. I would advise everyone to stay as far away from here as possible. And its not just here, its everywhere. All hospitals remain full, both here, in Shreveport ...... and flu tents are set up on hospital grounds in Jackson to treat ER overflow. Goodnight.
