Dads ask hospitals: use CCTV cameras to secure infants #Sitoy #Cebu THE Cebu Provincial Board urged all public and private hospitals in the province to install a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera especially in their nursery. The PB’s move was triggered by the alleged taping of a baby’s lips while he was still inside the nursery of the Cebu Puericulture Center and Maternity House (CPCMH) in Cebu City two weeks ago. PB members saw the need to install CCTV cameras after a multi-agency probe failed to establish who was responsible for putting tape on the baby’s lips. Neither of the parties was able to show evidence to support their claim. Last Friday, CPCMH nurses Arianne Mae Pacula and Kamille Isabella Neri spoke before the Regional Subcommittee for the Welfare of Children and denied the parents’ allegation that they taped the baby’s lips. In a resolution authored by PB Member Arleigh Jay Sitoy, he cited the Philippine Nurses Association’s Code of Ethics, which states that every nurse believes in the worth and dignity of each human being and recognizes the primary responsibility to preserve health at all cost. Earlier, the Board also approved a resolution urging the Cebu Provincial Police Office and the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office to check if such incident also happened in district hospitals. Pacula earlier said that before Badocdoc arrived at the hospital last May 9, there was no tape on the lips of the child. With the nurses’ denial, parents Ryan Noval and Jasmine Badocdoc still hope that they would find out who did such act to their child. Via Sunstar Cebu
