Daily Affirmation: Grieving is Hard, Tiring Work The hardest time to learn about the process of grief is while you are in the midst of it. You may feel that you are taking a crash course in grief and that the learning curve is formidable. But those who seek to understand grief and loss will be better able to recover, so we commend you for your determination and effort to see this process through. Dr. H. Norman Wright says, Many of the right things to do in life are the most difficult things to do. Put aside your pen and paper for a moment – you can journal your experience later. For now, try some of these “means to an end” – the end being a greater sense of peace. You may find yourself returning to these activities over and over in the coming months – and that’s just great! Use them as tools to recovery. 1. Cry 2. Hit a pillow 3. Yell and scream (park a car in a deserted area if you’re feeling shy – keep your windows rolled up and you have your own ‘scream chamber’) 4. Play a competitive sport 5. Hit a punching bag 6. Play a musical instrument as loud as you can 7. Write a letter to your loved one or to anyone else you’re angry with. Put down all your feelings. When finished, put the letter away – don’t mail it. Quotation for the Day I have emerged from the tunnel of grief into the light. Life is better.
