Daily Bible Reading 13 September: 2 Samuel 14-15 “And all the country wept with a loud voice, and all the people passed over: the king also himself passed over the brook Kidron…” (2 Samuel 15:23). David passed over the brook Kidron when fleeing from his son, Absalom, who had betrayed him. “Kidron” in Hebrew means: to be dark, sad, or to mourn. It was a dark time of rejection, betrayal, humiliation, and sorrow for David. Like David, there are times in life when we also have to cross a “Brook Kidron.” But we don’t do it alone, for God says, “When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown” (Isaiah 43:2). “Kidron” is a place where we must fully trust God. After Kidron, David eventually triumphed and returned to Jerusalem - so we shall also triumph!
