Daily Bread - NOV/12/14 Proverbs 18:12 - Before destruction a mans heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor. Humility is worth seeking because it is the way to great success. Those who will give themselves to the servitude and submission that is found in humility will find honor (Proverbs 15:33; 18:12; Zephaniah 2:3). The word used in the Hebrew language for honor is chavod which is the common Hebrew word for glory. When we speak of glory in the Bible we are first talking about that which God possesses and secondly that which God gives to His servants. The blessings of God always result in His honor and glory resting upon His servants. When God pours out His grace upon us we discover His blessings affecting every dimension of our lives: spiritually, physically and financially (3 John 3; 1 Peter 5:5; Ephesians 1:3). If you want to succeed then you must listen to what God has to say. If you will humble yourself under the mighty hand of God He will lift you up (1Peter 5:6). But if you are lifted up or haughty (Heb-gavah) in your own eyes you will come to ruin. To humble yourself under the might hand of God is to submit to His word and to trust Him to take care of the situation you find yourself in. God will defend you; He will save you. He will bless the works of your hands! It is God that will cause you to triumph in every situation and provide for you according to His riches that He has in His glory (Philippians 4:19).
