Daily Celebration of Christ: Wednesday, July 23, 2014 Today is the Weekly Prayer Meeting for Pregnant and Barren Women at Maryland Egoro Amede Ekpoma, Edo State (Theme: With God, all things are possible: Luke 1:36-37) First Reading: Jeremiah 1:1. 4-10 Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 71:1-6. 16. 17 (R. v. 15) Gospel Acclamation: Matthew 13 Gospel Reading: Matthew 13:1-9 Celebration of Christ: Jesus, the fruitful Sower Message: Be fruitful! When God created human beings He deposited the seed of greatness and fruitfulness in them. God planted the man He created in a fertile garden that is the Garden of Eden. God blessed them saying, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth” (Genesis 1:28). Child of God, you possess the seed of fruitfulness. God wants you to be fruitful. In the book of Prophet Jeremiah 1:1-10 the Lord said to Prophet Jeremiah, “Behold, I have put my words in your mouth. See, I have set you this day over nations and over kingdoms, to pluck up and to break down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant.” Child of God, like Jeremiah of Old, God has set you over nations and kingdoms. He has deposited the seed of greatness in you. In the gospel of Matthew 13:1-9 our Lord Jesus narrated the parable of a Sower who went out to sow; some of the seed fell along the path, the birds came and devoured them. Some fell on rocky ground; others on thorns and the thorns grew up and chocked them. However, there were some that fell on good soil and brought forth grain, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. Child of God, which one are you? Are you among those who fell along the thorns or those who fell on good soil? Jesus said, by their fruits we shall know them. Where you fall into will determine the kind of fruit you produce as a child of God. If you are producing good fruit it means you are on a good soil but if you are producing evil fruit it means you are in a wrong soil. Then you need to relocate. Child of God, Jesus wants the best from you. He planted you in a fertile soil. He deposited the seed of greatness inside you. He wants you to be fruitful and productive. He wants you to shine so that seeing your good work people will give glory to your Father in heaven (Matthew 5:16). May God remove every chocking thorn from your life! May He plant you in a fertile ground where you will flourish to his glory through Jesus Christ our Lord – Amen!
