Daily Comic Book Force Update: It is my birthday today and I will celebrate it by giving you guys some awesome stuff to think about. So, recently Professor Zoom has again reappeared on The Flash, this time in episode 9 of the series. Of course, we didnt get a clear look at who he actually is but he was instead just a blur of yellow and red. So here are 5 theories as to who exactly could be Professor Zoom. The first person who could be Professor Zoom is Eddie Thawne. In fact, in the comics, Professor Zooms real name is Eobard Thawne so both characters share the same surname. The problems with this theory is that Eddie showed confusion when he was first talked to about metahumans, he seems to be a good guy who doesnt know the identity of The Flash and it is more likely that he will become Cobalt Blue, which is something Rick Cosnett (the actor of Eddie) has rumoured at and he might also be The Flashs twin. The second person is Harrison Wells. This is another big comic reference as Harrison Wells in the comics later on becomes the villain Zoom (yes, there are two versions of the character) and then has the name of Hunter Zolomon. There is also the fact that the end of the pilot, he enters a room where he sees an article from the future about The Flash disappearing in a red blur. However, like all things, I have my doubts about it. For starters, Harrison so far has done many good things to help Barry become who he will be in the future (a great hero), his back story has been backed up by Joe West and that somewhat rules out him being from the 25th century. Last but not least, he might actually be trying to save everyone. The article he keeps saying is a direct reference to Crisis on Infinite Earths where The Flash sacrifices himself to save everyone. So, Wells might actually be creating The Flash just so he can save everyone in the future. The third person is The Flash from the future or another dimension. In case you guys didnt know, in the New 52 there was a character (loosely named Future Flash) who was (as the name suggests) The Flash from the future. He was an evil person, by the way so making Professor Zoom actually The Flash from the future is a possibility. However, there are some things I doubt about this theory. Firstly, why in heck would The Flash want to kill his own mother? Secondly, if he is from an alternate universe, I dont see why the producers of the show would make alternate universes just so they can make The Flash kill his own mother when they could do so much more. I feel like it would really just be done for shock value, which I dont think they would do. The group behind Arrow and The Flash tend to build things like this up instead of just springing random things on us. The fourth person is Henry Allen. The husband of Nora Allen and the father of The Flash himself. This would confirm the fabricated story that Henry Allen (played by John Wesley Shipp) was the killer of his wife. In case you guys didnt know, Shipp played The Flash back in the 90s. So, it would be a nice nod if they made Henry become Professor Zoom. This would make the tone of the show considerably darker however and I have some doubts about this theory. Firstly, the tone of The Flash is a little lighter than that of Arrow (I should know, I watched the first episode of Arrow season 2 and it was really dark) and by having Henry kill his own wife, this would really destroy the contrast in mood between the two shows. Secondly, how did he even get his powers to go back in time to kill his wife? Earlier, they could have said that what Barry saw was just something he used to mask the traumatic experience of watching his father kill his mother but now Joe West was visited by the man in the yellow suit as well, ruling out that theory. Thirdly, why the heck would he want to kill his wife? There is no justifiable reason for him to do it and if he knows hes going to end up in prison for this (he already spent most of his sons life in the slammer) why would he do it? The final person and most shocking theory is Iris West. This is a crazy theory but I highly doubt it for a few reasons. By making Iris Professor Zoom, this would just serve to shock viewers and the producers would have to live with the consequences over multiple seasons (if it makes it that far). Secondly, killing just doesnt fit her character. Sure, her slight obsession with The Flash draws parallels to Professor Zoom from the comics but other than that, she shows no traits of being remotely evil. Also, do you really think that the producers were so dumb that they would turn The Flashs primary love interest into his archenemy? Lastly, all the scenes we have seen of Professor Zoom so far has been a slightly visible white male, which is the exact opposite of what Candice Patton (actress of Iris West) is. Pictures taken from a fight scene between Professor Zoom and The Flash also show the stuntman as neither a woman nor black so theres really no reason to support this theory. Right now, the most believable theory for me is that Harrison Wells will become Professor Zoom, if not Zoom. So what do you guys think?
