Daily Comic Book Force Update: It is once again time for me to give you my daily update. For the past few weeks, Warner Bros. and Marvel Studios have been pampering us with announcements over the movies they will be releasing over the next few years. However, it is now Foxs turn to reveal something big to us. It was rumoured and teased that Channing Tatum would be playing Gambit in the X-Men film universe and now it has finally been confirmed that he will be playing the raging Cajun. Not only will Gambit be appearing in X-Men: Apocalypse, he will also be appearing in his own solo film with an as-of-yet not confirmed release date. The screenplay writer for the film will be Josh Zetumer from Robocop, the producers will be Reid Carolin, Lauren Shuler and Simon Kinberg. The movie will be based off a treatment written by Chris Claremont, who created Gambit along with Jim Lee. The story line has not been revealed. Also, a few months ago, Jessica Chastain spoke about how she would love to play a superhero in a movie. However, now she has confirmed that she has spoken with Marvel Studios on playing a superhero. Together, with the recent announcement of the Phase 3 films in the MCU, Jessica Chastains words might mean she could be playing one of two female superheroes to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That would be Medusa and Captain Marvel. In case you did not know who she was, Medusa is the wife of Black Bolt and will probably appear in Inhumans, set for release in 2018. Of course, Captain Marvel is an option but for Captain Marvel, I would love to see Ali Larter play her. In DC news, we all loved The Dark Knight trilogy. Those films had some pretty great scenes and of course a great director in Christopher Nolan. There were also rumours that Christopher Nolan was going to direct the Justice League films but that role has gone to Zack Snyder. However, now Christopher Nolan has hinted that he might be going back to Warner Bros. to direct another film. This is great news for fans of The Dark Knight trilogy. There are three films in the DC slate of films that Nolan could potentially direct. One would be Suicide Squad. Reportedly, David Ayer (who directed Fury), has been signed on to direct Suicide Squad, which is set for release in 2016 but imagine how great Suicide Squad directed by Christopher Nolan would be. Suicide Squad has always been a very gritty team, especially since they consist of villains who want to redeem themselves. Of course that would not be as great as having a movie based on the renowned story The Dark Knight Returns. By the 2020s, DC could potentially have released 1 or 2 Batman solo films with Ben Affleck in the front seat and once Affleck leaves, imagine having Christopher Nolan stepping in to continue the Nolanverse by having Christian Bale return as Batman. He will return to Gotham as an aging vigilante to stamp out crime but he is opposed by Superman and it leads to a major battle. The only film that I can imagine topping The Dark Knight Returns would be one based on Kingdom Come. This story line features not just Batman and Superman but also most of the established characters in DC, such as Wonder Woman and even more obscure characters like Orion. This story line also involved these original heroes in conflict with a bunch of amoral newer vigilantes. What is not to love? What do you all think? Will Christopher Nolan come back to DC? Finally, ending off with some news on the Suicide Squad film. Rumours have been floating around the Internet about who exactly are the characters who will be appearing in this film as part of the Suicide Squad. Well, I did some research and now I have come across one of the more definitive lists of characters. The first character is obviously Deadshot. He is a central member of the Suicide Squad and is currently still a member in the New 52. Very cool character with a sad origin, making him this very messed-up guy before turning to the wrong side of the law and becoming a villain. The second character is Blockbuster. He is Nightwings archenemy and fits the bruiser archetype of characters. He is basically just a big guy who beats people up and might be DCs answer to Hulk. The third character is Multiplex. He is the archenemy of Firestorm and his power allows him to split into more than one person. So hes more or less DCs Multiple Man. Multiplex has appeared in The Flash, played Michael Christopher Smith. The fourth and fifth character are more obscure characters, namely Mindboggler and Jaculi. The sixth character is Captain Boomerang, who is one of the enemies of The Flash. As his name suggests, he uses mainly boomerangs as his main projectile of choice and he also has a certain connection to the Speed Force, allowing him to throw his boomerangs with a burst of speed, which is what allows him to hit The Flash. The seventh and final character is Vixen. Now, many comic fans out there will be confused as to why Vixen, who is primarily a hero and a member of the Justice League, would be in the Suicide Squad. Well, a possible reason for this is that her powers are derived from an animal totem she possesses, which allows her to call upon the powers of any living being as long as it is connected to The Red. Anyway, what happens is that sometimes she loses control of herself and becomes more animal than human. So, by joining the Suicide Squad, she could be trying to gain more control as once the members of the Suicide Squad get out of line, something will happen in their bodies and they will die. What do you all think? Are these the characters you want to see in the Suicide Squad film or are there some characters that you want to see that are not mentioned?
