Daily Devos (Leviticus 23:1-2) Make Your Holidays Holy In Leviticus 23, the Israelites find out how to celebrate God through six special feasts. Each bash is rooted in either who God is or what He has done for His people. The whole point of these feasts-every particular offering or detailed activity-was carried out in order to honor and dwell on how holy, powerful, perfect, and good God is. While you may not celebrate the Feast of Weeks, Trumpets, or Shelters today, there are still quite a few God-centered holidays around. His birthday celebration every December is the first that comes to mind. But dont forget the closest thing to Passover modern-day believers have-Easter. Of course, there are tons of other opportunities throughout the year to celebrate His signature principles such as freedom, hard work, harvest gathering, Gods link to the celebration? What do you do to make these days holy? Remember, it was Gods idea in the first place to set apart certain days for remembering, thanking, and revealing in His goodness. So the next time you have a few days off from school and there are decorations in the yard and parties galore, make a point to set apart some time to think through the holy part of your holiday. Anything worth celebrating has its root in the wonder and beauty of Gods character, so be intentional about honoring and enjoying Him as you celebrate.
