Daily Devotion 1 September 2014 Where the spirit of the lord is, there is freedom. 2 Corinthians 3: 17- 18 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate[a] the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. Lately I have been reflecting on freedom. What does it mean to live totally free? We can only strive for this however while we live in this world we will always have worldly pressures that come to take away our freedom. Freedom is realising that when Jesus died on the cross he took all our pain creating a path way for all of us to live free. Often the pressures of life can disturb our mental state. In this passage the apostle Paul writes to the church of Corinth and is urging them to accept the freedom that God gives his people. Paul suggest that through this freedom we can experience life transformation and we can become more like Christ. This is great news for the regular “Joe Bloggs”. Recognising that we need a Saviour in every aspect of our lives who can transform us is an important step towards living in freedom. Although complete freedom of the mind is hard to obtain I believe that it is possible by speaking life into our situation. This may not set you free straight away but when we understand that freedom was given on the cross we become more aware of the power that we have daily access to. The same power that rose Christ from the dead lives in you and that power offers complete freedom. Why don’t you ask God today to help us live in freedom today? Heavenly father I pray that you will help us to live in the freedom that you gave us by dying on the cross. I pray that you will teach us to become more Christ like. I thank you for paying the ultimate price on the cross for me so I can live in your freedom and help me to remember that where the Spirit of the lord is there is freedom. Have a great week.
