Daily Devotion by Raul Ries FRIDAY January 24, 2014 Weighed & Measured 1 Samuel 2:3 “Talk no more so very proudly; let no arrogance come from your mouth, for the Lord is the God of knowledge; and by Him actions are weighed.” Notice, once you recognize who God is—holy and the Rock of our salvation—we have to put aside our pride and arrogance. How can we be prideful before the Lord, when we know what retched people we are? We know who we are inside and how we act when we are alone, so we cannot be arrogant before our holy God. We are not the only ones who truly know us from the inside out. Look at what Hannah said, God has all knowledge and He weighs or measures our actions. What does it mean to measure our actions? God looks at the intent of our heart and determines whether our actions have been done with the right motive. We can pray every day, but if we are doing it to be seen by man, they are worthless. We can serve in the church or go out and take care of the homeless, but if we are doing it for a pat on the back or to look holy, there is no reward in heaven for it. That is how God weighs our actions. It is so important to remember who we serve. We can do all kinds of things to impress people but those things will never impress God. He looks at our hearts and sees our motives. He alone knows if we are serving because we love Him and we want to bless others. It is so cool to serve the Lord and bless others, not just to be blessed by God, but to bless the Lord. The best past of all Christian work is that part which only God sees. ~Andrew Bonar~
