Daily Devotion by Raul Ries THURSDAY, June 6, 2013 Paul Imprisoned Acts 28:17 And it came to pass after three days that Paul called the leaders of the Jews together. So when they had come together, he said to them: “Men and brethren, though I have done nothing against our people or the customs of our fathers, yet I was delivered as a prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans, Paul the Apostle arrived in Rome sometime around 61 A.D. as a prisoner, and then for two years he lived in his own hired house in Rome. In Acts 28:30, Luke wrote: Then Paul dwelt two whole years in his own rented house, and received all who came to him. This is where he received fellow Christians who came to him, when they were visiting Rome. They would stay with Paul, and he would pray and share with them, ministering to them. Paul was allowed to live in a rented house, but he was never left alone. He was always under guard. Imagine, wherever Paul went, a soldier was watching him. While he was in prison in Rome, there were two soldiers with him. Wherever he went, they went. Think about how many times they heard the Gospel from Paul. He probably had many Roman centurions come to know the Lord. While Paul was imprisoned, he ministered to those who visited him and he shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ with those who guarded him. Not one minute of his life was spent in self-pity or self-indulgence. He gave his life, fully and completely, to the Lord. Do we share the same zeal Paul had for the Lord? Think about it. Self-pity is a prison without walls—a sign pointing to nowhere. ~Author Unknown~
