Daily Dose of Gratitude: October 15th, 2014: Im uber grateful for celebrations of diverse, independent, challenging films which transport you and further heighten your awareness of the world. At the 1st night of the Santa Fe Independent Film Festival earlier tonight, I watched Rhymes for Young Ghouls after my festival volunteering shift finished. I dont think I have ever seen a movie which brings together as much heartfelt yet visceral tones, as much richness of character, as much artistry, as damning of indictments on domestic, familial, and especially societal/structural violence, and as brilliant, resilient, hopeful, and well-executed of a movie. Kawennahere Devery Jacobs will be well worth watching as an actress who conveys depth of character in the most natural of ways. To think this is only the 1st night of the Festival, too(?!) :D https://youtube/watch?v=-kk7IxWINLQ
