Daily Encounter September 8th 2014 Integrity preserves II “The integrity of the upright shall guide them, but the perverseness of transgression shall destroy them.” - Proverbs 11:3 Today’s Scripture Reading: Psalms 78:70-72 Integrity is defined as the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles. When you look at the scripture in Psalm 78:72, you will discover that while skillfulness is connected to the ‘hand’, integrity is tied to the ‘heart’. “So he fed them according to the integrity of his heart; and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands.” Essentially, integrity or the lack of it begins in the heart. From your heart, you decide whether you are going to be honest or not; whether you are going to be faithful or not. In the journey of life, integrity is one of the most crucial virtues that every believer needs. We hear it being said, “Every day is for the thief and one day for the owner.” That is exactly what happens to crooked people. They keep looking for shortcuts, at the end of the day it is their life they are cutting short. Wherever they work, they won’t get satisfactory recommendation for the next level. If you cut corners in your place of work, very soon it will show. And when people discover you to be a person lacking in integrity, you stand to lose your respect. You can be skillful but not useful if you lack integrity. God demands us to walk in integrity. And even within our society, men demand integrity. It is rather interesting that even dubious men want to employ righteous men to work for them. All my life as a Christian, I cherish people of integrity. Their word is what they stand by. Men of integrity always get God’s hand over their lives when all efforts of men fail. Hook your life to God and He will help you. Prayer: Pray that from this day you will not negotiate the things of God. God’s word to you: Integrity is an asset in life
