Daily Forecast - Wednesday, January 21, 2015 Good morning, everyone! Please give this post a share if you can as it has not only information on todays system but the weekend as well. Roads may be slick this morning after yesterdays light snow so please use caution when driving. Skies today are expected to be mostly cloudy early on as an Alberta Clipper will move through the region this afternoon and evening. This system will bring snow to the region beginning in the mid to late afternoon hours from west to east. Temperatures will be borderline but are expected to drop as precipitation falls. Dont expect that fluffy snow we saw from the last clipper as this event should feature a wet low ratio snow. Snow will continue falling through the early evening hours before tapering off. This snow event is expected to have an impact on the evening rush hour so please plan accordingly. Temperatures will be below freezing once the snow starts falling and could make the roads treacherous in spots. Snow accumulations are expected to be highest in south-central New Jersey. This is where the best dynamics will be in play for moderate to perhaps a brief period of heavy snow. Further north will be on the lower end of the totals spectrum. This is because as the low begins to develop off the southern New Jersey/Del Marva coast locations closest to it will reap the benefits of better dynamics. North of Trenton I expect a coating to perhaps two inches of snowfall. South of Trenton into southern New Jersey (excluding coastlines) I expect one to three inches of snow with localized heavier amounts. I will be providing updates this afternoon and will notify if changes must be made. Guidance has been keying in on the idea of two potential storms of interest within the next week. This first of which is possible this weekend (Saturday into Sunday). Another system may be possible during the early/mid week time frame of next week. My approach is one storm at a time. Lets get the clipper out of the watch and see how guidance fared with it then onto the weekend storm and so on. If guidance struggles with todays system it will have an impact on the weekend storm. While the weekend is one of the more promising chances of a snow storm weve seen this season it also has things working against it as well. I will have much more information and will be providing more analysis on the system beginning Thursday. For now it is best to respect the storm system that is in the area today. Not one that may be in a few. Winter is not over, cancelled, or whatever you want to call it. With all of that said! Have a great day, stay safe, and please chime in with observations and road conditions once things get started. Thanks!
