Daily Growth for November 08, 2013 Daily Scripture Prayers of Affirmation: Part 25 Through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed, that through Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which they could not be justified by the law of Moses. (Acts 13:38-39) I believe that it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that I am saved. (Acts 15:11) I have believed in the Lord Jesus, so that I will be saved—me and my household. (Acts 16:31) God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples built by hands. And He is not served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives all men life and breath and everything else. (Acts 17:24-25) God promised the gospel beforehand through His prophets in the Holy Scriptures, concerning His Son—who was a descendant of David according to the flesh, and who was declared with power to be the Son of God, according to the Spirit of holiness, by His resurrection from the dead—Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 1:2-4) I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith, just as it is written: The righteous will live by faith. (Romans 1:16-17) God will judge the secrets of men through Jesus Christ, according to the gospel. (Romans 2:16) There is no one righteous, not even one; There is no one who understands, No one who seeks God. All have turned away; They have together become useless; There is no one who does good, Not even one. (Romans 3:10-12) We know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be silenced, and the whole world held accountable to God; because no one will be justified in His sight by the works of the law, for through the law comes the knowledge of sin. (Romans 3:19-20) Apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, being witnessed by the law and the prophets, even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. For there is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. (Romans 3:21-24) Daily Prayer January 23 YOUR WORD I am grateful to You, O God, for the blessing of your forgiveness. I thank You that in Christ, You set me free from the guilt of the past and give me hope for the future. For a brief moment I forsook you, But with great compassion I will gather you. In a flood of anger I hid My face from you for a moment, But I will have compassion on you with everlasting kindness, Says the Lord your Redeemer. (Isaiah 54:7-8) Take a moment to ask the Spirit to search your heart and reveal any areas of unconfessed sin. Acknowledge these to the Lord and thank Him for His forgiveness. MY PRAYER God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should change his mind. Has He spoken and not done it? Has He promised and not fulfilled it? (Numbers 23:19) The foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong; and the lowly things of this world and the despised things God has chosen, and the things that are not, to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before Him. (1 Corinthians 1:25, 27-29) Lord, I thank You that Your promises are always true and that You are my unfailing source of hope and trust in an uncertain world. I am grateful that You have chosen me for Yourself. Daily Encouragement The Attributes of God: Part 23 Will God indeed dwell on earth? Heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain You. (1 Kings 8:27) God sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a curtain and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in. He reduces rulers to nothing and makes the judges of this world meaningless. (Isaiah 40:22-23) The Works of God You will magnify Yourself and sanctify Yourself, and You will make Yourself known in the sight of many nations, and they will know that You are the Lord. (Ezekiel 38:23) The earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea. (Habakkuk 2:14) My Relationship to God God is my refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore I will not fear, though the earth changes and the mountains slip into the heart of the sea. (Psalm 46:1-2) I will not fear, for You are with me; I will not be dismayed, for You are my God. You will strengthen me and help me; You will uphold me with Your righteous right hand. For You are the Lord my God, who takes hold of my right hand and says to me, “Do not fear; I will help you.” (Isaiah 41:10, 13) The Character I Want to Cultivate The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline. (Proverbs 1:7) The Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk in integrity, guarding the paths of justice and protecting the way of His saints. Then I will understand righteousness and justice and honesty—every good path. For wisdom will enter my heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to my soul. Discretion will protect me, and understanding will guard me. (Proverbs 2:6-11) My Relationship to Others When I give, it will be given to me; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be poured into my lap. For with the measure I use, it will be measured back to me. (Luke 6:38) He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one should give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to us, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, we may abound in every good work. As it is written: “He has scattered abroad His gifts to the poor; His righteousness endures forever.” Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase our seed and will increase the fruits of our righteousness. (2 Corinthians 9:6-10)
