Daily Horror Overdose #22 Wacky Wednesday!!! (Late Post Edition) I realize now that I wish I had declared every Wednesday of this month a wacky one. At least I have this week and next week to start a new tradition. Todays Wacky OD comes from a true musical genius, Weird Al Yankovic. His catalog has so many hits parodied off of other people’s hits. The list of Weird Al’s magic is far too long to list over his 30+ years of accomplishments, so we’ll keep it in the bloody veins of this OD, with one that actually wasn’t a hit – Nature Trail to Hell in 3-D! NT2Hin3-D is featured on his album, In 3-D. Weird Al did a parody of Michael Jackson’s Beat It called, Eat It, and almost overnight made him a household name among so many kids of my generation. Quite a few people that I grew up with claim not to like his antics, but I was never that dude. I owned In 3-D, and listened to it regularly along with Michael Jackson’s Thriller. I’m sure I even played Beat It and Eat It back to back just to see the parallels. In between breaking down the comparisons, I discovered this gem of a song that is the final track on the album (besides the obligatory polka). The subject matter of Nature Trail is simple. It sums up just about every slasher film ever made to this day. The clip I found works as an homage to a bunch of slashers from the 80’s. Yeah, the song is goofy, but is pretty spot on for many of the slashers that we love. Let’s not kid ourselves, this song makes light of the Friday the 13th franchise, going so far as copping the tail end of it’s title from Friday the 13th Part III in 3-D. By the time I finally get around to posting this, Wacky Wednesday will be coming to a close within the next few hours, further proving what a wacky day it has been on my end. Enjoy! ***EDIT*** The YouTube clip is pretty gory, just as a heads up to those with sensitive stomachs! ***EDIT*** youtu.be/Z9jfAtUmcQo
