Daily Inspirations: Monday, July 29: Saint Martha Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live, and anyone who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” [Martha] said to him, “Yes, Lord. I have come to believe that you are the Christ.” —John 11:25–26 For some people, conversion is instantaneous and lasting, but for most of us belief develops gradually. Martha’s witness is an excellent example of this fact. The life of faith is a constant movement toward deeper and deeper faith. Martha needed to learn moment by moment how to choose “the better part” that Mary did when she sat at the feet of Jesus. Martha came to believe day by day in spending more time with Jesus, and so will we. [John 11:19–27 or Luke 10:38–42]
