Daily News open house draws big crowd For 103 years Los Angeles Daily News reporters and photographers have been fanning out across the San Fernando Valley to cover its communities. On Thursday evening, the news organization opened its doors to the community. More than 300 people packed the Daily News office for its first open house at its Burbank Boulevard location, meeting executives, columnists, reporters and photographers. “What a tremendous turnout. This is great,” said Kenn Phillips, senior vice president of the Valley Economic Alliance. “When there is an opportunity for the newspaper to interact with the community, it’s just great.” Ron Hasse, president and publisher of the Los Angeles News Group, of which the paper is a part, said it was an honor to lead the Daily News and that its employees are dedicated to customer care. “On behalf of the men and women who have worked at the Daily News for more than 100 years, I just want to tell you what a pleasure it is. We’ve covered the history of the Valley,” he said.
