Daily Parenting Tip (July 24, 2013) - Connect With Loved Ones Out of sight does not mean out of mind. Let your child call, skype or text loved ones who are out of town. Sometimes hearing the voices of people they care about who live far away from them can be very reassuring to kids. It also helps to further build relationships with family members the kids do not get to visit with on a regular basis. My mother and father resides in another state and does not always get to spend one-on-one quality time with their grandchildren. To help bridge that gap, I call my mom or dad right before putting the kids to sleep. During that time the kids will read a short bedtime story to their grandparents. Not only does this approach encourage reading but it also creates long-lasting memories both the child and grandparent can share for many years to come...
