Daily Prayer Friday, January 31, 2014 The seed would sprout and grow, he knows not how. Lord Jesus, The farmer in your parable today cannot control the sun, rain, or wind. Storms come when they will, and pestilence too. He tills the soil, plants the seeds, and hopes. My life is like that too. I’d like to think I am in control, but sunny days, rain, winds, storms, and pestilence come as they will, not as I will. Today, Jesus, I will try again to live as your disciple. Help me to do so, whether the sun shines or the storms come. Help me to treat everyone well and justly. Help me to be find self-giving love within me and to react with kindness and compassion, no matter what the annoyance or provocation. Help me to lift someone’s spirits. Each time I do so, Jesus, help me to see that I am planting a seed of your kingdom. I may not see it sprout. I do not know how it will grow I do not know when the harvest will come. But you promise, Lord, that there will be a harvest. So help me today to do my part— to till the soil, plant the seeds, and live in hope. Amen.
