Daily Prayer Monday October 13, 2014 Timely advice is lovely, like golden apples in a silver basket. 12 To one who listens, valid criticism is like a gold earring or other gold jewelry. - Proverbs 25:11-12 God help me to humbly listen to the advice and constructive criticism of others. I reject the lie I so easily believe that I need an image before others of being perfectly put together and always competent for every task. Give me discernment and grace to look past the exaggerations of those who critique too harshly - to find the kernel of truth there that you want me to accept. Then give me the determination to make adjustments in the way I live so that others are blessed by the power of the correction you sent to me through my critic. I know that if I will rest in faith that your fatherly love is behind the critic, then in time I will see their critique that once stung me as a gold earing beautifying my life. Help me dear Lord to listen to your voice through the people you have put in my life.
