Daily Prayer – January 11, 2015 by tommymcdearis Lord, I am a very fortunate person. Most of my life has been happy. Like everyone, I have had my ups and downs, but I am thankful that there have been far more ups than downs. Yet, if there is any good in the dark days, it is that they produce a hunger for joy. Some turn to You amidst that hunger, knowing instinctively that true joy is found in connection to heaven. Others settle for less, seeking ultimate joy from the partiality of earth. Remind us that home is truly where the heart is, and our heart was formed by the mind of heaven. Nothing short of a connection to our spiritual home will bring us the warmth and completeness of endless love. Let us not be satisfied too soon, O God, for everything from Your smiling presence to the presence of all those we have loved before awaits us in our spiritual home, and all who love us are joined there in oneness as they petition You for our benefit. All that means the most begins, but never ends, with You. May we seek the fullest joy whether or not the day is as happy as we might wish, and may we remember that true joy flows first and forever from the heart of heaven to the hearts of earth.
