Daily Reading Ezra 5:1-5 - The Eye of God was Upon Them When God commands a work to be done through us, He expects us to finish it. Not only does God expect us to finish it but He will watch over His work and strengthen us to get the job done in the presence of opposition. The Jews were commanded by the previous king of Persia to stop building, and they did. We can only imagine the discouragement and fear that must have filled the Jews prohibiting them moving forward. Momentum is a tough thing to keep up when you are constantly being attacked. Attacks weaken your strength and challenge your faith. They can also stop you dead in your tracks, but God is our source of strength! We see in verse 1 that God knew His people needed encouragement and support to finish His work so He sent prophets Haggai and Zechariah to remind them to keep building. Not only did the prophets encourage them with words from God, but they got in there and worked with them! Hebrews 3:13 tells us to exhort one another daily so that we are not deceived. We have to help each other out. Sometimes all we need is a reminder of what God has called us to do. Sometimes we need reassurance that God is still there watching and rooting for us. . God’s eyes are upon us, and He wants us to succeed. He has not forgotten. Our Father knows what we need and He will supply every need so that we are victorious in Him. Continue to encourage one another, and stay strengthened because it’s not over until God says it over.
