Mark Allen Saltz, Jr is thought to be somewhere in the Parkersburg, Vienna area. He stands 5’9” tall with brown hair and hazel eyes. (TheNewsCenter) Surveillance Results in the Arrest of Three on Drug Charges Surveillance operations netted three narcotics arrests on Wednesday. Authorities located a fugitive wanted in Morgan County for the manufacture of meth. 20 year old Nathan Ray Owens was found in Boaz with items used to make meth. 20 year old Seth Runnion-Gillespie of Vienna was located on Beaver Street in Parkersburg with 12 ounces of marijuana. 23 year old Joshua Stephens of Parkersburg was taken into custody and found to be in possession of amphetamine pills. (News and Sentinel) Mason County Man Charged for Scamming Elderly Couple A Point Pleasant man is facing federal charges for stealing $210,000 from an elderly couple. 40 year old Mark Anthony swindled the pair by telling them their money was being invested while he was spending their money on his own. (TheNewsCenter) Drilling Permitting Slows Reports indicate that drilling permitting is slowed in October after a bustling September. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources has issued only two permits this month. By comparison, more than a dozen permits were going to southeastern Ohio concerns at this time last month. The ODNR has issued a total of 1,534 permits for drilling in the Utica shale in Ohio since December 2009. A total of 1,102 Utica wells have been drilled during the same period. Of those, 584 wells are in production. (AVC) Glouster Shooter in Court A man who shot at Glouster police Tuesday night during the execution of an arrest warrant appeared in court Wednesday morning. Matthew Arno is charged with felonious assault and criminal damaging. (WOUB) OU Wants to Sell State Street Properties Ohio University is looking to unload several lots of revenue-producing properties on East State Street. The Ohio General Assembly will have to approve any sale of the land. Trustees are looking at reinvesting the proceeds from the sales into expanding the campus. One of the projects that could be supported by such a sale would be the redevelopment of The Ridges. The surplus properties include land occupied by Lowe’s, Walmart, Kroger, a strip mall and the Athens Town Center. (Athens News) Doctors Hospital Transitions to Urgent Care OhioHealth announced Wednesday that it will end overnight stays at Doctors Hospital in Nelsonville on Oct. 15. The company is looking for a new president after Greg Long resigned last month. The Columbus-based non-profit organization says the name of the Nelsonville facility will be changed to OhioHealth Nelsonville Medical and Emergency Services since it will no longer legally be a hospital. In June, the entity announced that Doctors Hospital would close, making way for a new urgent care facility to open in its place.
