Daily Searchlight. Sunday, September 28th, 2014. THE NATURE OF HOLINESS ATTRIBUTED TO HOSPITALITY. Text: Luke 10:30-37 Meditative Verse: Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. - 1 John 3:16 (KJV). The Scriptures teaches that without the believers holiness, no man- no matter who he is- shall see the Lord(Hebrew 12:14). God is holy. He demands practical holiness not just the entitled justification through the blood, from every believer in Christ. But He detests holiness without charity and empathy or compassion. There is a lack of charity on the part of believers today. The parable from our text (Luke 10:30), was a product, an answer to a lawyers question on works that will necessitate citizenship to heaven. Every sincere seeker must desire to know the nature of holiness that will get him to heaven. Obviously, from our text today the necessity of our study is underscored from Jesus answer. Christ talks about the necessity of an absolute, unreserved, complete love (which of course includes holiness) for God and practical service to our neighbours. But the lawyer, feigning in the ignorance of the divine true meaning and interpretation of the law, became willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour? (Luke 10:29 KJV). In Christs answer, we find the spectacular truth of charity in hospitality, a nuture of being holy. As the Church awaits the rapture of the saints, a cross-examination of the elements of true holiness appears indisputable and expedient. In this parable, generally called the parable of the good Samaritan, the Lord Jesus Christ explains two kinds of holiness - one outward and the other deeply rooted in the heart. Infact, one practical, imbued with grace and love, the other is theoretical, and only residence in the head. One is professed while the other is warm, hearty service. The one spurious, the other genuine. Spurious because it is dry and clings or anchors no feelings for anyone, especially those that are suffering. It is a character to pass by on the other side to dodge the call of duty and service. Excusing and procastinating the time for practical holiness. As sadly and unfortunate, it is that Levite and priest, the two officially holy minister of the Jewish temple, that fell into this category. Ask yourself. You go to church like the Levite and the priest, pay your tithes, pay your offerings, pay necessary funds for the church building. Have you seen into the spiritual and physical need of that brother/sister that comes to church with same pair of shoes, clothening every fellowship day? Some walk distance to get to church but while on your way with your vehicle, you saw them walking to church, you wont help because they are not the members of your fellowship or church. Your rentage is due, you have the money but dont want to pay. Do you borrow money or anything and dont want to pay back? Prayers: Make me an instrument in Your hand to be a channel of blessing to lives and be dynamite in the church. In Jesus name. Amen. Further Reading: Romans 13:8,10.
