Daily Texts – Friday, January 17, 2014 The Lord is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. Psalm 118:14 The Father has rescued us from the power of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of his beloved Son. Colossians 1:13 The verse from Colossians is one of those that clearly and concisely declares the full gospel. Before Jesus we were in the prison that is under the power of evil with no hope of escape. Then the Father rescued us and (this is the word that has my attention today) transferred us into the kingdom of Jesus. How well the word transferred describes the grace-filled work of God in Christ! In a work that is infinitely far above our ability or pay grade, our Captain transferred us from death to life. Think of how someone in authority transfers someone over which they have supervision. Our role in our transfer unto salvation? Nothing, except maybe to sing, for the Lord (and only the Lord) has become our strength and salvation.
