Daily Times Enugu Police Kill Suspected Killer Of Ex-Kwara CP ARTICLE | FEBRUARY 3, 2014 - 5:41AM Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested a suspected notorious kidnapper who allegedly participated in the murder of former Kwara State police commissioner, Mr Chinwike Asadu. In a release in Enugu by the command’s public relations officer, Ebere Amaraizu, said the arrest of the suspect identified as Friday A.K.A. Mbala followed a distress call. Amaraizu said the suspect was arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (S.A.R.S), adding that the daredevil armed robbery/kidnapping kingpin had been on the wanted list of the operatives over his nefarious activities ranging from armed robbery, kidnapping, murder amongst others within Abakpa and its environs. He further said “Suspect, however, identified as one Friday A.K.A. MBALA met his waterloo following a distress call received by the operatives that robbery was going on at about 9pm within Abakpa axis which also led to an exchange of fire between the daredevil suspect and the security operatives who overpowered him with their superior firepower, thereby leaving him fatally injured. “He was later identified as Friday A.K.A Mbala who has been on the wanted list of the operatives over armed robbery, kidnapping, murder amongst other crimes within Ogwuagor Abakpa and its environs. Notable amongst them are the alleged killings of late former Kwara State commissioner of police, some neighbourhood watchmen at Ogwuagor Abakpa and its environs amongst others. Items recovered from the suspected daredevil hoodlum include one locally made double barrel pistol with two cartridges. “Meanwhile, in a bid to revive the suspect, he was rushed to the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Ituku/Ozalla in Enugu State where he was later confirmed dead. “In a similar development, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Enugu State Command of the Nigeria Police Force have nabbed a suspect from Isiekenesi in Ideato South local government area of Imo State who lives in Abakpa, Enugu State over his alleged commission of armed robbery amongst other suspected offences. “Suspect who gave his name as one Ibeabuchi Ifeanyi, an acclaimed shoemaker who also claimed he is 21 years old was nabbed by the eagle-eyed operatives at Abakpa during their routine patrol. Suspect was arrested with a blackberry and a Tecno phones which he could not give a satisfactory account of”, he stated.
