Dakar 2015 Stage 12 - 298kms Termas Rio Hondo - Rosario Stage 12 done, one more to go, and Team Toyo are finally finding some consistency. Robby Gordon ran in and around tenth place the whole stage, eventually finishing 5 minutes back in 9th. The Zebra Buggy of Guerlain Chicherit has managed two clear runs in a row to take 11th place again, 8 minutes behind. Philippe Raud, whose Toyota is not expected to compete with the front runners has also been pushing out the results, managing 55th place today, 1 hour 7 minutes behind. 7 hours behind Nasser Al-Attiyah in the general standings, Orlando Terranovas stage victory today will not change the course of the rally. With three second place finishes over the last four days and a fourth stage victory in this rally he’ll no doubt be wondering ‘what if’ had it not been for a disastrous Stage 4 result. As a quick aside, something amazing is happening in the motorcycle category. Australian Toby Price won his first stage in Rosario today and solidified his third position in the general standings. The three-times Finke champion is a favourite of the off-road racing community here in Australia and a good friend to Team Toyo, having helped Billy Geddes in his preparation for last year’s Finke Ironman. Quick and consistent since the start in Buenos Aires, this is Toby’s first Dakar and he has been one of the revelations of this year’s Rally. No matter what happens tomorrow, Toby will be taking his rightful place amongst the elite riders of the world and Toyo will be cheering him on all the way. Good on ya Toby! Tomorrow sees the end of this years Dakar in Buenos Aires. 219kms of liaison and a short 174km special. Glory for some, relief for most, a sense of achievement for all.
