Dallas Buyers Club (after crazy travel weeks - lets see - 20,000 miles in 2 weeks) This was one of the movies that I drew my attention when I saw the trailer on THEVERGE - yeah the geek website. I was fascinated by the effort taken by the lead Mathew Mcconaughey for the role and it’s a must watch just for that. The story is about a man dying of AIDS and finding a way to live with the disease. The move is based an adaptation of a real life story. Mathew (who got an Oscar btw last night and well deserved that I must SAY!) did an amazing job as someone who suffers from an incurable disease (HIV/AIDS). The character finds a way to survive. This is the most strong suit of a human being - we strive when we are pushed to the darkest of corners of existence. The real life character that this movie is based of, lived for 7 years when the doctors told him that he would be dead in a month. Not only did he survive, he somehow helped others (obviously for profit) too. Jennifer Garner is in the cast who doesnt have much of a role in the movie. All she has is her pretty smile throughout the movie. She CANNOT ACT! Overall, I enjoyed the movie. You definitely need to be in the right mood to watch these types of movies as they have a predictable and down to earth plot. For folks who have HBO (in the US), checkout True Detective. The series just started, starring Mathew Mcconaughey. Its ironic - that he chose to do TV when he thought his movie career was over. He then get an OSCAR! I have bunch of crappy blockbusters that I dont care to review… I need to get back to my reading before the next season of GoT starts.
