Dallas Buyers Club is an incredible and moving film. It 100% deserves the many awards it has won and nominations it has received. I laughed a few times at cute moments of dialogue, cried more than a few times, and most of all felt a genuine empathy for the characters plights. Jared Letto gives an amazingly speechless performance. His best lines were when he spoke about fear of dying, and also when he commented about being a pretty angel for God. Matthew McConaughey was so dynamic and multifaceted in this role. His characters transformation from a loser bigot to a warm caring accepting man was beautiful. His best lines were when he demanded his old friend shake Reons hand, and when he described how he wanted to live a normal life, have children, and dance with his woman. Jennifer Garner actually blew me away in her portrayal. Sometimes she comes across luke warm in her performances, but her sincerity, and vulnerability played into a rich, and well defined chemistry that permeated beyond her character. She moved the boundary beyond the story alone and really drew me in close. I personally never knew that much about HIV/AIDS until seeing this movie. Watching the stereotyping, hatred and adversity these men and women faced for their disease was heart wrenching but necessary. Maybe this film will be a conduit for understanding and help to demystify and squelch any myths or misunderstanding about the disease and those afflicted with it.
