Dallas Buyers Club turned out to be one of those rare films whereby the film in itself was pretty ordinary, but the two lead performances were genuinely outstanding. It is usually an exclusively Denzel Washington thing to be brilliant in poor to average movies, but Leto and mcconaughey were every bit as good, if not better than Denzel rescuing Flight, Training Day, The Hurricane etc. Leto might even have been good enough to make up for his toe curling Oscar speech.
