Damage Assessment from 6-18-13 Hancock area 5 miles West of Dixon, MO Damage Assessment by Dixon Weather Service Inc. Dixon Storm Team Members Tim Brandt, Teri Tibbetts, Wendy Krull On the afternoon on June 18, 2013 scattered thunderstorms developed across the area in the warm, moist and unstable airmass with shear marginally supportive of organized severe weather. These thunderstorms moved south from Eastern Miller and Western Maries county in to Pulaski county and produced damaging straight line winds of 65 to 70 Mph in the Hancock area located about 5 miles west of Dixon. Damage to trees happened on Burlington Rd with one tree falling on to a house which produced broken windows and some roof and siding damage. On Center Rd a tree was snapped off several feet above ground. On Hwy 133 on the Western side of Hancock a house sustained some roof and siding damage as pieces of the metal roof material was transported to the south and deposited in the yard of the residence. One piece of metal roofing was also found to have broken the windows out of a mini van parked at the residence. Metal roofing was found inside the vehicle. Other tree damage was also observed in and around the Hancock area. This damage was the result of straight line winds estimated to have reached 65 to 70 Mph. No divergent pattern to the damage was noted which points to straight line winds and not tornadic activity.
