Damaging swell warning still in force Residents in the Western Division can expect damaging swells despite Tropical Cyclone Lusi’s centre being located than a 100km away from Nadi. Director of Meteorology Alipate Waqaicelua says they have also issued a storm warning for Conway reef which is 450 km southwest of Fiji. “For Conway reef its part of Fiji and that’s an important part of Fiji as navy go there and also fisherman who go to that particular reef for whatever purpose they go to. That particular reef is being given a storm warning this morning and we expect to remove the storm warning later this evening and probably go back to gale warning but we expect it to later normalize tomorrow.” Waqaicelua adds they’re still receiving reports of high waves from the western division, Kadavu and nearby islands. The swells are expected to normalize by tonight. The remaining rain bands from Tropical Cyclone Lusi will continue to affect some parts of the country.
