Damnit, Bobby Keys died today. Texas born American saxophonist, Keys is probably best known for touring with The Rolling Stones - and in particular the sax solo in Brown Sugar. But he played with nearly every legendary band there is. His credits read like a roll call at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. In addition to the Stones, Keys played with Dion, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Buddy Holly, Elvis Presley, Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Delaney & Bonnie, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Warren Zevon, Joe Ely, Sheryl Crow, John Lennon, and Leon Russell to name but a few. If you grew up in the 60s and 70s, you might not have known his name unless youre liner notes junkie, but chances are Bobby Keys helped make the soundtrack of your youth awesome.
