Damon Graulus joins 2015 KEMEA Yamaha line-up Damon Graulus has signed a deal with the KEMEA Yamaha squad for next year with a long term intention. The 19-year old Belgian rider will contest the MX2 World Championship next season on the side of Frenchman Benoit Paturel. Graulus is the reigning French MX2 champion and had planned to ride his maiden full MX2GP season in 2014. A 7th place in moto 1 of the Spanish GP was his best result this year. Damon is currently 20th in the championship standings after missing several GP events and will be sitting out the rest of the season after he injured his elbow in the Finnish GP. Damon Graulus: I’m really excited to join KEMEA Yamaha. It’s clear the team has been improving the last years and everybody works really professional. It’s important for me that the team is Belgian, which helps a lot to communicate. Being under the wings of Marnicq Bervoets will certainly help me to progress, and I really look forward to ride the bike. I’ve always enjoyed riding the Japanese bikes and I’m sure the YZ250F will suit me just fine. This year I didn’t have a great season but I learned a lot, so I know where I have to focus this winter. I’ll work as hard as I can and the top 10 is my objective next year with hopefully some surprising results. Marnicq Bervoets, KEMEA Yamaha, team manager: I know Damon has a lot of potential. He was winning a lot on the 85cc and I think we haven’t seen the best Damon so far. He just needs the right guidance and training to be a top rider. The most important for Damon is to work on consistency. Already he’s fast in some races but he needs to be fast anytime on any surface. He’s really motivated and that’s a key thing for me. We believe Damon is capable of reaching the top 10 in 2015, we’re looking forward to next year! Hans Corvers, KEMEA Yamaha, team owner: We made the decision to sign two young talents for next year and I’m really happy with that. Being a Belgian team, the addition of Damon is great for the exposure of the team and its sponsors. I’ve been following Damon for a couple of years and he already showed a lot of great things. With the help of Yamaha Motor Europe we can offer him the best available bikes. As a team we will provide him with all the necessary physical and mental guidance. Together with Benoit I think we might surprise people next year!
