Dan Dillard Update :: Thursday, November 28, 2013 Happy Thanksgiving! This is probably one of the BEST Thanksgivings EVER! We have so much to thank God for: Dan is still here with us, he is continuing to be healed and restored, the body of Christ who has rallied around Dan and his family through prayer, phone calls, visits, cards, meals, financially and giving much support, encouragement and love to the whole family! Praise the LORD! This morning I got to stop in and see Dan, he greeted me with the warmest of smiles! I am thankful for this gift, he is a treasure and Gods love just shines through him. While I was there, Dr. Higgins stopped in to see him. He was very pleased with report Dr. Angeles had given him regarding the closing of the wound. He said that was a big hurdle to have cleared. He has talked with Dr. Hines, the orthopedic surgeon and in 10 - 14 days the plan is for Dr. Hines to test the stability of the pelvis without the fixator. The procedure to do that is to go into the operating room, remove the fixator and do some specialized x-rays that show movement while testing the pelvis. If the pelvis is stable on its own, the fixator stays off. If the pelvis is not stable enough, the fixator will stay on and Dr. Hines will more than likely plan to do a bone graft to bridge the gap and connect the pelvic ring that weve been praying would grow back together on its own. In the mean time, Dr. Hines has directed the therapists to begin light weight bearing on the right leg. This will help strengthen the leg and is also a helpful evaluation in preparation for testing the stability of the pelvis. The urology doctor will be meeting with Dan on the plan to test the bladder and remove the catheter. This test may occur sometime this next week. Well keep you posted. Please be praying specifically for: 1. continued healing of the pelvis, bladder and right leg 2. no new infection 3. for pain to be minimal 4. for strength and endurance through the therapy sessions 5. complete healing & restoration of Dans body. Dan, Sharon and Joe would like to thank you all once again for all the continued prayers. Wishing you each have a Happy Thanksgiving with your family and friends. May God richly bless you and keep you! Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing. Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations. Psalms 100:1-5
