Dance with the one what brung you. Life in balance. There has been a deafening silence from some parties regarding the Corbett Middle School Football Team Family Restaurant Debate of 2013. Who in their right mind(s) would want to take sides? Ya, youre right. I dont give a hoot about restaurants. Really. I do give a strong Cardinal whistle, however, about Corbett Schools. And my story goes like this. If it looks like a Cardinal, calls itself a Cardinal and wears Cardinal Colors, its a Cardinal. The Cardinals have entrusted exactly one person to make the call, to balance dozens of competing interests as we strive to make all of the advantages of strong athletics available to our students while maintaining a balanced commitment to our scholarly and social responsibilities. When the Cardinal AD makes the call, thats the call. Its either that, or we have no mutual accountability, no responsibility for what goes on with athletics, and no justification to put a Cardinal on the uniform. I admire what the Boosters have done. The Corbett Cardinal Boosters, without whom our athletic offerings would be emaciated, have worked miracles. I admire the contributions of volunteer coaches. But at the end of the day, if your contribution of time, dollars, dedication and love is about the Cardinals, then its ancient wisdom that offers the best guide. Dance with the one what brung you.
