Dancers and UX experts! (Im looking at you, Ash and Nirav and Gaby and probably other folks whose day jobs I am ignorant of). For my Capstone project (kind of a thesis project for my graduation), Im basically re-vamping DanceCal and creating an accompanying app. Ideas so far: – Live map that can be filtered by time of year/type of dance, and zoomed around in, thus allowing one to easily see how many dance weekends one can hit in a row in any given area. – Decked out event pages that are well formatted (with ALL the links), but still allow for event organizers to customize the look/feel, probably using Facebook banner images (so they dont have to create more imagery). – Information on local scenes, including what kind of transportation is best (car? bus? train? bicycle?), where the dances are (more maps), good food spots, touristy things not to miss, etc. for the not-going-to-a-huge-event-but-still-travelling-dancer (like Yossef). – Facebook-integrated (although not required) dancer profile, allowing everyone to sign up as a local (publicly or not) in their scene, allowing folks to become ambassadors to travellers (if they choose to) – similar to Couchsurfing. Hosting/carpooling opportunities? Hotel room sharing? ^ most of the data above being input by locals in the scene, or event organizers Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions?
