Dang!! (every time a post starts out with Dang you know that something terrible is about to happen).... I was heating up a biscuit for lunch in a new toaster oven. i didnt think the thing was so fast and powerful. It burned my biscuit in just a few short minutes, much faster than the DING that was supposed to warn me to check my biscuit. I reached in with a potholder to pull the plate out, and it had heated up the stoneware plate to temperatures that spaceships reach when reentering the atmosphere. I howled (silently, so as not to scare the new kitten) and threw the plate down on the counter. I didnt realize that the plate landed on a cherished piece of plastic that I had been hauling around with me from home to home for 15 years... it was a pet food lid that I had bought in Germany...it fits every size of cat food or dog food can. I loved that thing. And i had had it sooooo long. That lid lasted longer than my marriage. Well, the hot plate melted the bejeezus out of it. It no longer resembles anything, and half of it is stuck to the bottom of the stoneware plate, only to be dissolved with some sort of noxious chemical. The moral of this story.... Dont Eat Biscuits. Theyre not good for you.
