Dangerous Norways Atlantic Ocean Road The Atlantic Ocean Road, or Atlanterhavsveien in its native Norwegian, spans 5.2 miles across an archipelago on Norways western coast. The road took six years to build and connects the island of Averøy with the mainland and is often considered one of the most dangerous roads in the world. In addition to having a reputation as perilous, it has also been classified as both a cultural heritage site and one of 18 National Tourist Routes in the country. It was also awarded the title of Norwegian Construction of the Century. The route has eight bridges and four viewpoints and has many dining, fishing, and resort establishments built along it.
