Dangers of Retractable leashes. While some will argue this issue is due to user error (we agree), retractable leashes still have no place at multi-dog venues or with large dogs, untrained dogs, or dogs that have a propensity to become frightened by loud or sudden noises or other stimuli. This leaves a relatively small proportion of dogs on which retractable leads can be safely used. Any dog can become frightened on a walk.
