Daniel- #44- January 20th- 642 words- We are still looking at verse thirty three of chapter four of Daniel at the judgment of God against Nebuchadnezzar for his unbelief but mostly for his attitude of PRIDE and EGO. Those are two things that will bring you down no matter who you are or what you are: no matter how much money you have or dont have, no matter your position in society or you know or dont know, pride and egotism will drag you down and in saying that I am not even including the fact that if God pronounces a judgment against you it most assuredly will be disastrous. Now we have seen that the king has been run out of town by the inhabitants and he is now eating grass with the oxen just to stay alive and then our next look is at the judgment that ...his body was wet with dew which meant that he had no where to go that was a home. He laid in the field, perhaps under a tree just like the oxen and sheep would do, he had no structure to call home: he was at the mercy of the elements is what this verse is saying just as the beasts of the field were. God is going to get his attention!!! Next we see that the hairs of his head had grown like the feathers of an eagle, long, wiry and whitish in color and that his toe and finger nails had grown like birds claws. We find that in verse thirty two the length of time that Nebuchadnezzar was out in the field, an outcast among his own people, a vagabond in the land, in verse thirty two: ...and seven times shall pass over thee..., meaning a period of seven years. In order to see that the word times means years we must compare scripture with scripture and precept with precept. To begin we have to go to the end of Daniel: I hate having to move way ahead like that but sometimes it is necessary. We look at the last portion of sentence number six of chapter twelve of Daniel: ...How long shall it be to the end of these wonders? (7) And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the people, all these things shall be finished. In order to see the meaning of the times we have to go on to verse eleven. Now, you have to put all these things together, which is what I meant by saying compare scripture with scripture and precept with precept, in order to figure out the meaning of these words, time, times, and half a time. As I am writing this the Holy Spirit has convicted me to say that I am not going to explain this further right now. All of this comes up later in Daniel and has to do with the seventy weeks of judgment that God pronounced upon the Jewish people. I dont want to get into that yet as it is very long and very confusing if you dont go one sentence at a time and give full explanation of that sentence. You will just have to trust me as Gods man, that a time is equal to seven years. So seven years will pass over Nebuchadnezzar and that is why he is described as having hair like eagle feathers and nails like bird claws. Tomorrow, Lord willing, we will pick right up here again. Until then may God bless you all. Pastor Joe Raulerson
