Daniel 1:1 In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it. 2 And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with some of the articles of the house of God, which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the articles into the treasure house of his god. 3 Then the king instructed Ashpenaz, the master of his eunuchs, to bring some of the children of Israel and some of the king’s descendants and some of the nobles, 4 young men in whom there was no blemish, but good-looking, gifted in all wisdom, possessing knowledge and quick to understand, who had ability to serve in the king’s palace, and whom they might teach the language and literature of the Chaldeans. 5 And the king appointed for them a daily provision of the king’s delicacies and of the wine which he drank, and three years of training for them, so that at the end of that time they might serve before the king. 6 Now from among those of the sons of Judah were Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. 7 To them the chief of the eunuchs gave names: he gave Daniel the name Belteshazzar; to Hananiah, Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abed-Nego. 8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. 9 Now God had brought Daniel into the favor and goodwill of the chief of the eunuchs. 10 And the chief of the eunuchs said to Daniel, “I fear my lord the king, who has appointed your food and drink. For why should he see your faces looking worse than the young men who are your age? Then you would endanger my head before the king Yesterday while at work the Holy Spirit spoke unto me perception and I said speak to me Lord for your servant is listening. The next word He spoke was Daniel.. We are living in times that we are not remembering that perception is one of the greatest tools we use in bring others that know God that have fallen away or bringing those that do not know Him at all into wanting to know the God that we serve. Daniel during a time in the path of the children of Judah that God handed them over to King Nebuchadnezzar. So they went to a land that was very different from the land that they came from. The language, false gods, behaviour patterns, customs and so on. But the king of this land called for some of the children that was brought in and wanted them and changed their names because their was royalty in them with all sorts of gifts that he felt would be of benefit to his kingdom. But the ones that were selected had more than just the gifts, royal heritage and wisdom, they were sold out /committed to the true and living God that despite the regional location and the unfamiliarity of the customs they did not detour from being the children of the most high God. As a matter of fact from the very beginning God used them to set in motion a plan that caused the king of that kingdom to want to know the true King, Jehovah Lord God almighty. So what does that have to do with perception we understand that we are not of this world and when we boldly let the world know that we are christians our behaviours and how we carry ourselves really reflect the God that we serve. Just as when we were children how we acted and what we did reflected the type of parents that we had so as it is with how we act and what we do as children of God. Many desire not to know the God that we serve due to how we carry ourselves as His ambassadors in the earth. Just as with Daniel, the 3 boys and Jesus himself they all walked in honor and humility of the God that they served, they could not be swayed to serve and follow other patterns as those that were in the environment that they also lived in. They were steadfast and immovable in the promise and position of who God knowing even if He doesnt I will still yet serve and honor Him. In all that we do in our daily lives, Put aside the title and the position and allow the perception that others see in us be what will show others that our God is awesome, amazing, loving, all powerful, faithful, compassionate, caring and I will not be moved to reflect Him in any other way that would cause others not to want to know HIM. Shalom!
