Daniel 2:24-49 concludes the story from yesterdays reading. Nebuchadnezzars decree to kill all the wise men in Babylon is being carried out. But Daniel requests a meeting in order to interpret the kings dream. Daniel repeatedly states that the ability to know and interpret the kings dream does not come from his own wisdom or power (verses 27, 28, and 30). He gives credit to God where credit is due. The theme running throughout is story is the sovereignty of God. He is in complete control of what is taking place. God gave the dream to the king, God gave the interpretation to Daniel, and the dream itself also speaks of Gods control during the reign of 4 powerful nations. The fact that God is in control caused Daniel to worship God in verses 20-23 and the king to worship God in verse 47. What a proper response to Gods sovereignty.
