Daniel Eisert, LCDS class of 2013, just finished work on Loudoun Country Day School’s cross country course as his project to attain his Eagle in scouting. He has worked hard this spring to meticulously measure the 3K course, mow, plant bushes, and fill in holes with over 60 bags of fill dirt. In addition, he has added permanent course markers that he beveled, sanded and stained, with the help of a member of his church, to create a lasting and professional finishing touch to the course. LCDS Athletic Director Cathy Fernandez and Daniel put their heads together to create a meaningful way for Daniel to give back to his childhood school as well as improve the running conditions for current and future students. The school has had a cross country course for five years here at the Red Cedar campus and hosts invitational events for other independent schools in the area as well as training its own students. Coach Fernandez reflects back on the years she has known Daniel, “I taught Daniel in prekindergarten PE. He came in every day with a smile on his face and was easy to teach. I am proud of Daniel, as an alumni, to give something permanent and lasting back to the school that will last a long, long time.”
